Much more than tourism! You will live an intense experience in Silicon Valley. This week will look like a month. We made a schedule for you to live an international business immersion, full of technical visits, talks and workshops with entrepreneurs, networking rounds and many surprises.

  • [02] Eatsa

    Would the Restaurant be the beginning of food automation?

    The Eatsa network of restaurants has attracted the attention of the people and the mass media.

    Recently it was featured in The New York Times (https: //goo.gl/5B4S6p) that talks about the change in behavior of both the restaurant and who buys its meal.

    Customers order their meal by themselves. Pay and receive their order at home without interacting with anyone.

    There is no waiters. There is no cashier. There is just the people that cooks the meal without anyone noticing or seeing them.

    Points to note:

    – Innovation in the sector considered traditional

    – Restaurant;

    – Change of behavior of sale of product and consumption;

    – Transformation of the entire production chain and business traction: Marketing and communication, logistics and technology.

    With annual revenue above US$ 40b and 47 thousand employees (Forbes: https://goo.gl/JpSqfE), Capital One operates in the banking services sector and the company has been innovating in this traditional sector. Investing most in infrastructure instead of technology

    They are not basically composed of cashiers, managers and service queues. They have created free co-working spaces with internet and cafes.

    Points to note:

  • [04] Workshop Design Thinking (4h)

    Design Thinking was created by a Stanford University professor. It is a set of methods and processes to solve problems related to future information acquisition. Includes knowledge analysis and solutions proposals and is also considered a solution to combine empathy in a context of a problem, in order to put as people at the center of the development of a project;
    Design Thinking aim on creativity for generating solutions besides analyzing and adapting solutions to the context.

    Topics discussed:

    1. A way of seeing the world focused on people.
    2. Techniques and tools about how to analyze a problem.
    3. How to analyze assumptions and dependencies.
    4. How to verify that you are solving the truth problem
    5. Mental Model of Growth x Fixed Mental Model.

    Speakers

    Pedro Cintra graduated in Civil Engineering from the IME (Military Engineering Institute of Rio de Janeiro) and he has worked in Information Technology and Comunication for many years in major companies around the world: Petrobrás, Norwich Union (now Aviva), Amadeus Data Processing and Intel . Since 2007, he works at Googleplex in California. Pedro is part of a group of innovation evangelizers in Google’s finance department whose goal is to encourage colleagues to reinvent their roles.

    Mariangela Smania graduated in Art Education and it was in Silicon Valley that she found her true vocation. She discovered that art and aesthetics, combined with technology, can make the world more productive, sustainable and beautiful at the same time. For almost 10 years, Mariangela has offering a immersion program about Silicon Valley culture which includes meetings with start-ups and major companies, as well as venture capital firms and universities. In this program there is also an introduction to the culture and valley ecosystem, such as workshops for professional development and lectures with ilustrious speakers in the region. The purpose of the immersion program is to show the mental model that triumphs in the Valley. Mariangela earned a certificate in “Design Thinking and the Art of Innovation” awarded by d.School, Stanford University and she did several courses about entrepreneurship, Valley history and innovation.

    Let’s take a close look at Tesla’s vehicles.Tesla was founded by Elon Musk, considered the most innovative entrepreneur today.

    The company has developed state-of-the-art technology for renewable energy and it has transformed the way you buy vehicles.

    Visits to startups to learn more about the business mindset and the preparation to receive investments and global projection.

    Guided external technical visit.


  • [09] Apex Brazil

    The Brazilian Agency for the Promotion of Exports and Investments (Apex-Brasil) acts to promote Brazilian products and services abroad and attract foreign investment to strategic sectors of the Brazilian economy.

    In order to achieve the objectives, Apex-Brasil carries out diversified commercial promotion actions to promote exports and value Brazilian products and services abroad.

    Among the actions are: prospective and commercial missions; business rounds; support for the participation of Brazilian companies in major international fairs; visits of foreign buyers and opinion makers to know the Brazilian productive structure. In addition to business platforms that also aim to strengthen the Brazil brand.

    The Agency also acts in a coordinated manner with public and private actors to attract foreign direct investment (FDI) to Brazil. The focus is on strategic sectors to develop the competitiveness of Brazilian companies and the country.

    Technical visit to Draper University, an educational institution that forms superheroes like entrepreneurs. Founded by Tim Draper, one of Tesla’s investors.


  • [11] Aceleradora de Startups

    We will visit a startup accelerator to know how it works and what purpose does it have. Besides knowing why Google, Paypal, Ebay, Uber among others went through accelerators.


  • [12] AutoDesk Gallery

    The gallery brings together the most exceptional stories about design and engineering. It shows how people are using these new technologies to imagine, to design and to create a better world. The exhibition brings together 20 pieces about innovative designs in different industries and original samples from companies such as Lego, Mercedes-Benz, Nike, among others.


  • [13] Zendesk, SalesForce ou Newrelic

    Technical visit to one of the companies: Zendesk, SalesForce or Newrelic. An employee will guide the internal visit. The themes covered are: business, scalability and how the tools of these companies can help your company produce more results.


  • [15] Stanford University

    Visit to the Stanford University campus – outside activities. Topics covered: the University’s Importance to the Silicon Valley Business Ecosystem. The region is one of the most enterprising areas in the world since taking California beside Mexico during the Gold cycle.


  • [16] Smart Home - OpenHouse

    It is a place to experience and buy products, learn about possibilities and connect with breeders. The products are aimed at automation of homes and corporate offices.

    At night, Open House becomes a space for events, hosting discussions and debates about the influences and transformations of this sector that has grown exponentially.

    – Consumption of products abou to automation;

    – Trends.


  • [17] Turismo Corporativo

    We will visit important places such as the house where HP was founded, Steve Jobs’s house where the first Mac was made.The participants can take photos. We will visit the overlook that is on the other side of the famous Golden Gate Bridge (we will not enter the company).
